Educational Transcription
....................................................................................................................................
Educational Transcription
refers to the transcription of lectures, seminars, discussions
etc. held in institutes and universities. The transcription
is used for educational purposes and hence the name ’Educational
Transcription‘. The services under this category fall
under two main classes, namely real time educational transcription
and non-real time educational transcription.
Real time educational transcription is primarily used by the
deaf and hard of hearing students to understand the on goings
in the classroom. Imagine for a while that you are a deaf
student studying in a mainstream school. The teacher is carrying
on with her lecture while the students are all indulging in
interactions about what the teacher is saying. Alas, you cannot
hear what anyone of them says nor can you take part in the
discussions. This is not uncommon for deaf and hard of hearing
students as a statistic points out that 75% of deaf and hard
of hearing people have to do with studying in normal schools
where other normal kids study. With little help from teaching
staff in the form of deserved extra attention and the study
material being created keeping in mind the classroom lectures,
the hearing impaired students are unable to learn effectively
in their schooling years, which can cause irreversible damage
to their future prospects.
We can provide such students with real time education transcription
services. We provide meaning-for-meaning transcription rather
than verbatim transcription in this special service. The difference
between both of them is that in verbatim transcription there
is word-to–word transcription of audio content, including
all false starts, umms, aahs and other important background
sounds like the flying of an aero plane. On the other hand,
meaning-to–meaning transcription only transcribes the
meaning of the recordings but does so by suitably shortening
the content. A meaning-for-meaning transcription also adds
non-verbal data that have special meanings, like facial expressions
or stresses on certain words by the speaker.
We will provide real time transcription for online lectures.
Institutes willing to provide this facility to their students
should conduct lectures with professors speaking through microphones.
Our transcriptionist will receive the audio feed and get the
audio transcribed. Your students will receive the transcriptions
on their computer screens.
A fully edited form of the transcript can also be procured
on demand. Such a transcript will be made available within
24 hours of the lecture.
Non real-time transcription service includes webcast and videotape
transcription of classroom lectures and seminars. On receiving
the webcast link or the videotape, our transcriptionists get
going with the transcription of the audio content. If you
want your audio/video files captioned, then log on to our
server and upload the file for captioning. We accept a range
of file formats like mp3, wav, mov, wma, wmv, mp4 etc. The
formatting will be done as per the client’s wishes.
The client will be given a login id from where he can upload
content to be transcribed as well as access and manage older
transcripts.
Our transcription services are outsourced to our base in India.
This enables us to run our operations at a lesser cost compared
to a transcription firm that runs locally from the US. This
cost benefit is completely passed on to our customers. We
are aware of the limits on spending by institutes. Hence we
would strongly recommend you to choose an outsourced transcription
company like ours which will not be an unnecessary drain on
your resources. Also, we have considerable experience in provision
of transcription services to various sectors, and so you can
be rest assured about our expertise and infrastructure standards
for transcriptioning.
Other than lectures, our company also provides transcription
service for seminars, conventions, orations, speeches, discussions
etc. as a part of its package for educational transcription.
The following is the list of clients who have been receiving
our services and still continue to seek them due to the high
standards that we have set in transcriptioning.
